Performs semi-skilled electrical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment; does related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This is semi-skilled mechanical work with primary responsibilities for the maintenance and repair of plant processing machinery and equipment.
Secondary responsibilities include general plant maintenance duties.
General work assignments are received from the maintenance managers, with additional duties assigned by Class 'A' mechanics.
Minimum supervision is required for general maintenance duties, with additional supervision required for more complicated tasks.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
(Illustrative only) Performs maintenance on various pieces of equipment, including conveyors, chillers, dumpers, pumps (mechanical and hydraulic), grinders, and other processing equipment; Performs preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment; Keeps maintenance records on all plant machinery and equipment; Basic Troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical problems; Assists outside contractors; Working knowledge of the plant operation, layout, and overall product flow at Farbest Foods, Inc.
Basic welding.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of plant equipment, proper maintenance procedures and principles of operation; some knowledge of the standard practices, methods , tools and equipment of the electrical and mechanical trades, extensive knowledge of occupational hazards connected with maintenance work; ability to study and understand operating and maintenance manuals, read blueprints, electrical schematics and perform required services; mechanical ability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and users of equipment; basic skill in the use and care of tools, machinery and equipment of the electrical and mechanical trades; good judgment, dependability.
Proven ability to perform maintenance tasks while working with others in both maintenance and operations in a flood plant environment Proven skills in the maintenance of food process equipment from startup, normal operation, temporary operation, and maintenance level requirements Proven ability to complete maintenance projects not directly related to plant operations while continuing to provide normal daily maintenance production support ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Some experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and completion of various courses in electrical and mechanical maintenance or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
